Casino Royale - Mise-En-Scene

In this scene, the key light on Bond is directly on him defining his muscles on his torso and his biceps which looks like an artificial light coming from the lantern. This created shadow on his back and as there is no fill light it creates a bigger shadow on side of the room which is on the left of the frame. However, there is back slatted light as it looks like it is coming through the floorboards exposing the mysterious and almost dangerous looking background, this light            looks quite natural so there is a contrast between the two article and natural lighting. There is also a smaller lantern on the back wall revealing the dangerous objects like the chains.
The setting looks very mysterious and gloomy it almost looks like he is in a basement or underground somewhere which the slatted light emphasises. the props that are used makes the scene look very dangerous and quite scary as there are chains and ropes and the man who has tied up Bond is holding a whip of some sort. the floor and the walls look like they are deteriorating which shows a sign of neglect and abandonment.
Props used in this scene are dangerous looking objects such as ropes, chains and whips. This reveals a sense of torture as Bond is tied up to a chair. This creates quite a nerve shattering, 'on edge' feel to the scene.
The body language of the two characters reveals their emotion, the man standing over Bond looks confident in the way that he is standing and presenting himself. He is making himself in control of this situation whereas Bond, is tied up and cant move is vulnerable, he has his head down which shows he may even be quite scared and frightened about what is going to happen to him.
The costume hasn't got much to it as Bond is wearing nothing which also adds to the point that he is feeling vulnerable and unprotected physically and mentally. The man on the other hand is wearing a suit which shows he is someone who is maybe high in power to Bond maybe another secret agent who is on the opposing side to Bond.

clip analysis

How has the following sequence been used to affect an audience?

For my analysation I have used a 30 second clip from one tree hill when Nathan has been kidnapped but his father comes to save him. In this sequence the character of Nathan’s dad, Dan has heroically arrived to save Nathan from the protagonists, in the first few seconds of the clip we see him marching round the corner and shooting the three men out the way. A point of this clip consists of slow motion which adds determination and confidence into the character. The mise-en-scene is a very dark underground almost basement setting and its very dusty and no natural light is being let in, this adds a mysterious affect and would make the audience feel unaware and quite on edge about the setting. A lot of guns have been used in this scene as props which adds a violent affect and would make the audience feel unsafe at this point.
The soundtrack is quite a fast and loud tune and adds drama to the scene as it almost feels like the music is leading up to something significant at the point in the clip. This would make the audience feel excited as to what is going to happen next, it makes you want to carry on watching the clip.
When the main protagonist Dimitri, comes round the corner the camera goes forward to him hen passed his shoulder and then there is a jump cut to where the camera turns around and we are facing Dimitri and he shoots the man tied to the chair, the camera work in this adds affect and the audience for a few seconds can’t see what is happening behind the camera and they want to know what Dimitri has done to the man on the chair. When the camera is facing Dimitri he then shoots the man, not knowing it isn’t Nathan as his dad has helped him escape.

The lighting in this clip is very important as it is very gloomy and he light has been dipped slightly to it isn’t burning bright. This creates and earie affect and would again add a mysterious affect to the scene, this would really engage the audience and make them feel curious as to what is going to happen. No natural light is coming through at all which emphasises the secrecy of this kidnapping as its being well hidden and kept under high security.

There are many different forms of media that I like to use and they have all had a different impact on me. Social media is one of my most popular uses in the media such as Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat all of which I use to keep in contact with friends and family and to see what they are up to.
I tend to use Youtube a lot to find new music and music videos that have recently come out.

Other forms of media such as magazines are also something I enjoy, especially when I am at work and I get a short break, reading the latest celebrity magazines is something I find quite entertaining, However, I disagree with the invasion of peoples privacy and how the media releases it for everyone to see.

Although reading about celebrities can be entertaining, keeping up to date with them on a regular basis is something id prefer not to do, also I dont have the time. I do have a Twitter account, I just dont use it regularly or some times even at all.

The media is very important to me especially music as I think of it as a way of escapism, as well as films.
